Consumption

The Wallace Global Fund is exploring strategies to promote sustainable consumption. There is growing recognition that industrial nations must reduce and shift consumption patterns to ensure that future generations have adequate resources, and that those same generations do not inherit an unmanageable amount of waste. The Fund welcomes proposals that address institutional consumption of natural resources in a creative and leveraged way.

Consumer's Choice Council (CCC) - $35,000

Support for CCC, Center for a New American Dream, Mothers and Others, and Co-op America to convene a meeting in April 2000 to examine how to accelerate institutional and individual demand for green goods.

Development Center for Appropriate Technology (DCAT) - $75,000

Support for DCAT's work to change building regulations to first allow, then make preferable, and eventually to require more sustainable and "greener" ways of building.
