Population pressures exacerbate many of the fundamental obstacles to sustainable development: degradation of natural resources, income disparity, gender inequality, and poor maternal and child health. The Fund believes that we can uphold women’s human rights by expanding their reproductive health choices, thereby reducing unwanted childbearing and improving the lives of women and their families.

In support of evaluating, updating and distributing the Childbirth Picture Book, a resource on women’s reproductive health developed by the late Fran Hosken.

For a project entitled, “Euromapping: Going Global”, an effort to promote sexual and reproductive health in the foreign assistance programs of European donor governments.
Equilibres et Populations - $50,000
To support policy and program work combating female genital mutilation/cutting in the Kayes region of Mali.
Feminist Majority Foundation - $75,000
To galvanize activism on U.S. college campuses on issues of U.S. international family planning policies and funding, sweatshops, poverty, and violence against women around the world.
Global Fairness Initiative - $50,000 For the Synapse Market Access Fund, an innovative investment fund that facilitates market access for poor grassroots producers.
Guttmacher Institute - $100,000
In support of the Fast Forward Initiative, an expansion and reinvigoration of the organization’s advocacy, communications and outreach capacity on global reproductive health and rights.

To continue to mount legal challenges against the “anti-prostitution loyalty oath,” a policy requirement in U.S. funding for global HIV/AIDS programs, and to document the impact of U.S. policies on family planning and HIV/AIDS programs around the world.
